I was so excited to hear Shana Ritter read her poetry, and to experience the rare treat of listening to Amanda Jensen's beautiful harpstrings, up close and personal, which sound amazing in here, plus she was going to bring her Baroque harp, as it, says she, is smaller, and useful for Baroque music, which I so wanted to hear- but alas, the forecast proved right on schedule, meaning that it started freeze-raining at about 6:00 downtown, and by 7:00, there was a lovely and very slippery crusting of ice crystals all over everything! I just realized that was one whole sentence. Run on much?
"O, DO Run on, girl!"
Pep talking myself... I have so many hats to wear..
Anyway, I stayed around til 7:00, just in case anyone came out, so want to say Thank You to the lovely woman from New York City, also a harpist, who braved the crunch of chance in hopes to see Amanda play! Sorry we couldn't gather, but hopefully, everyone was cozy and safe during the brief winter grip that closed upon us Thursday, just to remind us that spring was still a month away...
Geez.. another one. Breathless.
Hopefully, Shana and Amanda will grace us with a rain-check performance, or snow-check- and maybe the Herald Times will give us a do-over in the Hot Spots again, thanks so much, HT!
Next week's First Friday event will unveil the March exhibit, showcasing the paintings of Linda Anderson!
Thanks to everyone who came out to see Iryna Hladyniuk's Atomic Sparks exhibit, and if you missed it, she will be recreating it at the Grunwald Gallery in March, I hear..! Iryna's prints and cards are still available in the Gallery, so stop by and support your local artist by buying some local art!
Linda Anderson is
currently a candidate for a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting at Indiana
University’s Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts. She completed a BA at Mount Holyoke College
in Massachusetts, and earned a Master of Science in Art Education degree from
Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she was awarded the George Nick
prize for painting in 2009. Her work has
been exhibited in several states, including the Somerville Museum in Boston,
First Street Gallery in New York City, and Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati,
Ohio, as well as locally in Bloomington.
Hope to see you then!
