Catching Up

During the winter, a few important goals were accomplished at Blue Studio, namely, bringing the Gallery into focus with the second show, featuring the Encaustic paintings of Zionsville's Lisa Bick, which opened on the tenth of February. Lisa's work will remain available at Blue until the end of March, and there will be one more Mixer/Art Party before the exhibit leaves Bloomington. The Gallery looks beautiful and smells like beeswax!  You can stop in (Tues-Sat/12-6) and check it out! BlueStudioGallery uses security assured Propay online, and accepts Visa/Mastercard, as well as cash or local checks.

Also, the blog is taking shape, with pages and categories to peruse and view pictures of samples. To keep track of updates on art and events, you can sign up to follow!

Blue has joined Local First, a community organization that encourages Bloomington's small business owners with support and networking, and provides a list of members to help the community at large Shop Local. You'll see a little sign in the door..

Connecting with Bloom magazine bore fruit in the form of participation in the first annual local artist showcase, which took place at the convention center on the 25th of February and was well attended. Blue Studio appeared in miniature, with its showpiece upcycled Showers Bros. cabinet, and tables made from hundred year old mahogany panels stripped off our old piano! I featured some custom art boxes, and vintage postcards, as well as a personalized wedding painting. Felt happy about the public exchange of my own poetry and art!

While at the event, I met Sarah Pearce and Marcie Neiditz, two lovely women who extended an invitation to participate in the Visual Artist's Guild Open Studios tour this June. This event will coincide with Gallery Walk and is intended to become an annual occasion. Blue plans to represent.
